ON THAT UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN FRANCE AND GREAT BRITAIN

The book Hidden History : The Secret Origins of the First World War states that the decision that France should patrol the Mediterranean and the British patrol the English Channel to protect French channel ports was initiated and taken by Winston Churchill.

Churchill and Grey kept this understanding from the cabinet and House of Commons.

Would and did they keep it from King George V?

And if so, did George ask them if such an agreement existed?
