Like other hoity-toity historians of British or Commonwealth descent, they promote the WW1-just-happened theory.

And the book contracts and the professorships just roll in.

Macmillan was privately educated in Dorset and her PhD, on Women in India, was from Oxford.

But her Great Grandfather was David Lloyd George!

It was his decision in the cabinet that took Great Britain into WW1. He was fooled by King George V after George had manipulated Germany and Russian into mobilising against each other, until von Moltke invaded Belgium to start the Schlieffen Plan so that Germany could be blamed for the war.

But she won't say so.

Why?

Coz she'd be drummed out of history.
