I grew up listening to Thomas Dolby. He wrote I Scare Myself. It is supposed to be about a man realising the depth of his love for his lover.
In this age of engineered terror, the song is very apt for today in which the general population is engineered to love its protector, even though the protector engineered the terror for that very reason.
So many people are so readily able to scare themselves.
