THE CURIOUS FLIGHT PATH

The wreckage of the Turkish aircraft shot down by Syria on Friday has been found in Syrian waters.

My understanding, and perhaps somebody like Craig Murray could clarify this, is that the territory is defined on the land and sea and this is then simply projected up normal to the surface of the earth where the territorial borders are defined thus defining air space.

If this is the case, then there are some serious questions to be asked about this flight.
1. why, at this time of heightened tensions, particularly between Turkey and Syria, was a flight path taken that risked an incursion into Syrian air space?
2. how is it possible that this aircraft entered Syrian air space (to first set off the alarm), but then enter international air space (according to Turkey) to be shot, but then end up crashing in Syrian waters?
3. were the pilots inexperienced and on a training mission themselves (therefore increasing the probability of an incursion into Syrian air space)?
4. if Turkey admits that the aircraft did indeed enter Syrian airspace then what was the precise path that it took, and how far off course did it go? In other words, was an incursion into Syrian air space planned as part of the test?

This is beginnning to look like a trap that Syria fell into. I hoped Gul had calmed it all down with his admittance that these things happen, but somebody is driving this towards war.

And we can all take a wild guess at who that is...
