A PROMISE

An interview of Glenn Greenwald by GQ has perhaps revealed more to Greenwald than he thinks.

The interview is introduced thus:
He works at the white-hot center of the media universe as the most reliable source for NSA surveillance scoops. He talks to Edward Snowden most days and has full access to the complete archive. And while Glenn Greenwald has spent the past year publishing revelations from arguably the largest cache of breached secrets in American-intelligence history, he promises the biggest bombs are still to come.

So he promises the biggest bombs are still to come.

But how long has he been working on this now? OVER A YEAR!!

Somewhere between 12 and 18 months he's been working on this, to allegedly expose the inner sanctum of the NSA.

AND HE PROMISES THE BIGGEST BOMBS ARE STILL TO COME!!

I can't wait!

I mean, what's the rush, Glenn?

The USA Freedom Act has just been gutted!!

Take your bleedin' time, pal!!

When you're ready!

I hope you are enjoying your new multi-million dollar media empire with that paragon of vanity, Jeremy Scahill!

I am reminded of a song by one of my favourite groups of the 1980's Echo and the Bunnymen. The song is called A Promise (hence the title of this post). The lyrics are very, very apt for this farce of a promise.

You said something will change
We were all dressed up
Somewhere to go
No sign of rain
But something will change
You promised

You said nothing will change
We were almost near
Almost far
Down came the rain
But nothing will change
You promised

A promise
A promise
A promise

It's exactly the same
You said
It's always the same
But I'll make it change
Into something the same
I promise

A promise
A promise
A promise

Light on the waves
Light on the waves
Light on the waves
Light on the waves
A promise
A promise
A promise
A promise
(Light on the water)
(We could sail on forever) A promise
A promise
(There's light on the water)
(We could sail on forever) A promise
(There's light on the water) A promise
(There's light on the water) A promise
(We could sail on forever) A promise
(There's Light on the water) A promise
(There's Light on the water) A promise
(We could sail on forever)
