That Parker guy is at it again, scaring the beejeezus out of us.

Al-Qaeda is plotting mass attacks on civilians in Britain and other Western countries, the head of the UK secret service MI5 warned. The announcement follows Wednesday’s terror attack at Charlie Hebdo in Paris, which killed 12 people.

Andrew Parker, director general of MI5, told a select group, mostly from the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI), that while the Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) has been encouraging lone wolf attacks on British soil, Al-Qaeda are planning a massacre that will target large numbers of civilians.

“We know that terrorists based in Syria harbor ... ambitions towards the UK – trying to direct attacks against our country, and exhorting extremists here to act independently,” he said.

“We still face more complex and ambitious plots that follow the now sadly well-established approach of Al-Qaeda and its imitators: attempts to cause large scale loss of life, often by attacking transport systems or iconic targets.

“We know, for example, that a group of core Al-Qaeda terrorists in Syria is planning mass casualty attacks against the West.”

Note that even though the Kouachis claimed to be working for AQAP, Parker cites Syria as the source of terrorist threats to this DFQ.

But it has been British foreign policy to oust Assad for at least 6 years, but I suspect for much longer. In 2009 British officials asked Roland Dumas to plan how to smuggle Jihadis into Syria. There has been a Covenant of Security between MI5 and Islamic terrorists for decades, leading to London being named 'Londonistan'. And despite being a suspected terrorist and drug dealer, Michael Adebalajo was free to preach Jihad against Assad on the streets of London to provide recruits for the British-run but Saudi-sponsored Jihad against Assad. Once smuggled into Syria via NATO member Turkey, those Jihadis are trained by and fight alongside al Qaeda and/or Islamic State.

But these British Jihadis serve a dual purpose:
1. to destroy Syria and oust Assad to get a pipeline built from the Pars gas field starting in Qatar to run through Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Syria and Turkey, and then onto Europe to threaten Russia's supply and influence over Europe;
2. on their return to the DFQ become a threat to national security to provide a pretext for demands for more money and power to be given to the spying agencies.

Simples!
