First Carswell calls for Farage to go.
Then Farage claims that someone tried to kill him by loosening a nut on a wheel on his car, which came off while he was driving at high speed on a French motorway.
Then it was claimed that Carswell was the alleged assassin.
But now, Farage admits that it was all made up!!
Nigel Farage has said he made a "terrible, terrible mistake" by speaking to journalists about a car accident in France, which was branded as an assassination attempt.
...The wheel came off Mr Farage's Volvo V70 while he was driving on a motorway, but French police and mechanics have since said there was no sign of foul play.
... The anti-EU campaigner had previously told how mechanics in France said the nuts on his wheel had been unscrewed.
He said: "The French police looked at it and said that sometimes nuts on one wheel can come a bit loose – but not on all four… The mechanics were absolutely certain of [foul play] but I have decided to take no further action."
