THOUGHT FOR T'DAY ON PEACE

What has peace ever done for us?

Have we made more progress during war?

If so, then in what?

Weapons development, obviously: how to make our physical world kill our enemies.

But then shortly after WW2 there was this Atoms for Peace program between the USA and Iran, the USA having unecessarily dropped atomic bombs on Japan...TWICE...in order to extract Japanese surrender on terms that the Japanese had accepted months earlier!

But anyway.

War is all hell, said General William Tecumseh Sherman of the United States Army, before helping to annihilate the native Americans after the British-engineered US Civil War.

But in war/hell do we make more progress as a society?
