Mosul is being attacked from the south, east and north, leaving open the escape west into Syria.

Fars News is already reporting convoys of Islamic State have been escaping west into Syria and have been left unbombed by the USAF.

"Much surprised the ISIL convoys that have been escaping from Mosul to Syria have not come under attack by the coalition fighter jets," a Hashd al-Shaabi source said.
