Oh! What a Lovely War!
The first 10 minutes or so subtly blames Great Britain for the war for not, as the dominant empire at the time, exerting their authority and making sure everyone knew what Great Britain's position was and what they would do.
Instead, Great Britain promoted an air of pure neutrality and of seeking peace. King George V even told Germany that Great Britain would stay out of any war.
This encouraged Germany to mobilise.
Which encouraged Russia to mobilise.
Which encouraged Germany to mobilise more.
Etc, etc, etc.
And then as soon as Germany invaded Belgium, King George V of Great Britain ordered his Foreign Secretary Sir Edward Grey to get Great Britain into the war.
Thus King George V tricked Germany into a position which started the world war so that later Germany could be blamed for starting the war.
The German Monarchy even wrote to Woodrow Wilson about this trickery, in an attempt to stop the USA joining the war before Wilson plunged the USA into the war. But Wilson didn't listen because he was a British imperialist under the control of British bankers. Wilson even showed the Ku Klux Klan film Birth of a Nation in The White House!!
Anyway, in Oh! What a Lovely War! you have songs from the era and great performances from Olivier and Mills, and a great supporting cast.
