Some clubs have been allowing cardboard cut-outs of fans to sit or stand on the terraces.
But if these cut-outs could also have a speaker connected to them which is connected to a microphone which the fan speaks/shouts/cheers into then those expressions of joy/anger/despair/swearing, etc, could be transmitted from the fan in his/her living room to their cut-out in the stadium to provide some atmosphere.
The problem would be the delay in transmitting the expression from the fan to the stadium. A fan's cheer at a goal could arrive several seconds after the goal was scored. Similarly for the anger at a red card, or an ungiven penalty.
This is really, really sad.
