WHY ARE FORTS NAMED AFTER CONFEDERATE GENERALS?

For the two world wars the U S Military needed a number of new large bases to train recruits, which then included many African-Americans who were by then allowed to enlist or were drafted.

Land in the south was much cheaper so the U S Military located those bases in the south.

But the local southerners opposed this move. To pacify the southerners the U S Military named the bases after Confederate generals, even though those Generals were incompetent.

Why will Trump not re-name those bases?

Here he is saluting the rotting corpse of the Godfather of the Confederacy: President Andrew Jackson.
