Basically, NATO promised that it would not advance one inch east beyond the Elbe. But NATO used snipers from the military of Georgia to shoot up protestors in Maidan Square in February 2014. This provoked an uprising by neo-Nazis against the Russophile Ukraine government. The neo-Nazis then formed a new government and started war against the pro-Russia east of Ukraine. Russia intervened to protect the civilians of east Ukraine from the neo-Nazi government, and in the mayhem the tragedy of MH17 occured. The war ended in the Minsk 1 and Minsk 2 accords, which called for the Ukraine government to stop attacking the east of Ukraine. But the Ukraine government has NOT stopped attacking the east of Ukraine. And comedian Zelensky has started to talk about gaining nuclear weapons.
So after WW2 NATO countries took in bona fide Nazis, and then used Nazis in Ukraine in 2014.
