During WW2 the Nazis invaded the USSR in Operation Barbarossa.
At the end of WW2 those same Nazis were taken in by the USSR's former allies: the Nazi scientists went to North America; the Nazi loot went to South America; and Nazis remained in powerful positions in Europe for propaganda, counter-intelligence and political reasons.
North America and Europe are at the heart of NATO, which has been slowly creeping east towards Russia in a slow motion Operation Barbarossa 2.0
So with Germany announcing that their tanks can be used in Ukraine, this is what Russia sees and has been seeing since 1991 as it looks West:
