He wasn't the only factor, but he certainly played a huge part encouraging war while he lived in London.
But why did Russia invade Ukraine in the first place?
Because Ukraine failed to implement Minsk II Accords. Zelensky promised Ukraine he would, but NATO told him no, so he didn't and he instead called for the ethinc cleansing of east Ukraine. So under R2P Russia went in to protect ethinc Russians.
