This is a long but detailed and well-sourced article on how and why Israel was created. Curiously the British royal family is never mentioned, even though it was they who engineered and kicked off WW1.
But I am aware of the vast majority of facts in this article, and was unaware of others, such as the removals of Kitchener and Robertson who both opposed focusing on Palestine during the war.
