DID GERMANY TRY TO BRING THE USA INTO WW1 ON THE SIDE OF GERMANY?

I have foud no evidence.

But Great Britain tried by allowing The Lusitania to be sunk by German U-boats, hoping the outrage of Germany killing American civilians, even though The Lusitania was basically a military ship using civilians as human shields, would bring the USA into the war.

But it failed.

So WW1 raged on.
