NATO ran the bloody Maidan Coup in February 2014, installed a neo-Nazi junta who started a de facto civil war on pro-Russia east Ukraine. Zelensky was elected after promising to end the war and implement Minsk II. But then NATO sank their fangs into him and he instead called for the ethnic cleansing of Russians from east Ukraine. So Russia invaded on a mission of R2P.
