They want to make life so unbearable that many wish to commit suicide.
They developed a suicide pod for exactly that purpose.
The coming wars, famine, economic crises, replacement by robots, etc will create the conditioms for the demand for mass suicide, which will be coupled with mass psychological campaigns encouraging and/or advising suicide.
