A VERY RUSSIAN COUP
In the FT yesterday Medvedev was portrayed as the saviour of Russia, a moderniser, while Putin was compared to a simpleton caveman keeping Russian business Russian and dependent on exports of fossil fuel. Of course, modernisation means privatisation and selling off state assets to foreign businesses. Hence the support of the City of
Medvedev now has the confidence to implicitly warn Putin of a civil war(!) if too much power is concentrated in one man's hands.
