THE INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION IS A SHAME ON BRITISH HISTORY

The industrial revolution in the UK was based on cotton and the British East India Company, and was designed to generate enormous profits as children toiled in mills from dawn to dusk.

The raw cotton initially came from India and was then sold back to India as textiles.

This unscrupulous lust for profit eventully drove the slave plantations in the southern states of the USA, who commited treason against the United States to form the Confederate States of America to preserve slavery.

There was a terrible system implemented by the British:

1. slaves were shipped from Africa to the Americas;
2. the slaves enabled growing cotton to be profitable;
3. the cotton was transported to the mills of England where children worked;
4. the manufactured textiles were then sold to India in return for opium;
5. the opium was then forced onto China.

If you want to be proud of the industrial revolution then knock yourselves out.

But to me the industrial revolution stinks of death, slavery and child exploitation.
