BOOM! WAS GENERAL ROBERT E LEE WORKING FOR THE UNION?

This is a serious question I have been asking myself for years, a question provoked by Lee's tactics at Gettysburg, because on Days 2 and 3 he basically sacrificed The Confederate Army.

Here is a talk given by Edward Bonekemper which addresses the myth of the lost cause, and one myth which Bonekemper destroys is that Lee was the greatest General of the war. Bonekemper provides ample evidence to show that at the very least Lee was incompetent at crucial times, but the evidence can also be used to show that Lee deliberately gave orders that led to the defeat of The Confederate Army during several battles.

Bonekemper destroys the myth that the U S Civil War was about a tariff, by citing many, many contemporary primary sources (always the best) to show that slavery was the prime cause of the U S Civil War.
