Yes, there have been hurricanes that have hit New York.
Yes, they have done damage.
But Sandy, and the weather systems it is interacting with, look very dangerous.
Besides the potential for the obvious flood and power line damage there is also the potential for damage to anything related to nuclear power. All it could take is one nuclear facility, and by that I do not necessarily mean power plant, and shit could happen...or appear to happen.
I watched Sky News UK this afternoon and within a less than one hour there was massive difference in the behaviour of the sea it was showing, from an unsettled behaviour to one of obvious violence, but the storm was not expected to hit that area for hours!
'Experts' said that despite the distance the storm had travelled that it had accumulated more energy due to unusually warm seas, and were surprised that it had not been drawn more out to sea.
This storm, despite previous storms that have hit the NY area, does look very very suspicious.
The question is, who will it favour.
