THE BLUE AND THE GRAY - PART 1

First broadcast in 1982. I don't remember seeing this in the UK. But this 5-part series is based in the time before and during the U S Civil War.

Takeaways from part 1:
1. the South plead poverty and their need to keep slaves while they live in luxury;
2. Stacy Keach (remember this is in 1982) plays a character who a very beautiful young woman falls in love with instantly and suggests children;
3. but that same Keach character is portrayed as dodgy (like Cockney Chris in The Fast Show) who in the film has deep connections with John Brown and Abraham Lincoln.

I can see where this is going:
1. the South had a cause;
2. the South were brave and honourable;
3. Lincoln and the North were fake hypocrites.

This is exactly the line Infowars have been pushing for decades.

Why?

Coz Alex Jones' family is racist and Confederate. They founded the extremely racist Republic of Texas in 1836, then fought at the rank of colonel and general in the Confederate Army to defend negro slavery.
