The Zionists told Great Britain that they could get the USA into WW1 on the side of the British, but in return the Zionists wanted Palestine as a homeland for the Jews. So Great Britain did not negotiate peace in earnest in the 2nd half of 1916, knowing that the USA would soon join the war on their side. This provoked Germany into resuming U-boat warfare.
But there is a 2nd way that the Zionists torpedoed peace.
In 1917 the Ottomans told the USA they were prepared to abandon Germany to make a separate peace with Great Britain. This would have seriously weakened Germany leading to a quick British victory, but it also meant that Palestine would remain a part of the Ottoman Empire and not part of any subsequent peace negotiations. Felix Frankfurter was sent to investigate the possibility of this separate peace, but he persuaded his boss Henry Morgenthau to abandon the attempt. Frankfurter was a Zionist Jew, and was a member of the American Zionist delegation to the Paris Peace Conference after WW1. So did Frankfurter torpedo this separate Ottoman-British peace so that Great Britan could be awarded Palestine and fulfill their obligation in The Balfour Declaration?
