IRAN TO HOLD HOLOCAUST CARTOON COMPETITION

What is Ahmedinejad playing at?

In "retaliation" for the publication and republication of cartoons of the Prophet Muhammed Iran is holding an international competition in cartoons of the Holocaust.

Iran paper plans Holocaust cartoons

Ahmadinejad says the slaughter of Europe's Jews is 'a myth'

Iran's largest selling newspaper has announced it is holding a contest on cartoons of the Holocaust in response to the publishing in European papers of caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad.

"It will be an international cartoon contest about the Holocaust," Farid Mortazavi, the graphics editor for Hamshahri newspaper, which is published by Tehran's conservative-run municipality, said on Monday.

He said the plan was to turn the tables on the assertion that newspapers can print offensive material in the name of freedom of expression.

"The Western papers printed these sacrilegious cartoons on the pretext of freedom of expression, so let's see if they mean what they say and also print these Holocaust cartoons," he asserted.

This really is getting childish. The Islamic world has just been rioting and burning over an abuse of free speech. And now an Iranian paper is going to fan the flames even more and do the same thing! This is bordering on hypocrisy.

When Ahmedinejad said that Israel should be wiped off the map a thought crossed my mind that maybe he was a Zionist agent. This adds to that feeling.

I'm no fan of Israel, but I'm no fan of Islam either. Both are being incited to clash. That's why Israel was created in the first place.
