WHY IS ANNAN DRAGGING IRAN INTO SYRIA WHEN HE SHOULD BE TELLING THE FRIENDS OF SYRIA TO GET LOST?

Just last weekend the Action Group for Syria released the text of a new plan for a transition government for Syria. One point of the text related to respecting the national and territorial sovereignty of Syria.

Yet Syria was not invited to the meeting.

In other words, a gang of nations met and decided what to do with another nation who was not present and therefore could not protest against or agree to any decision reached by the gang at the time.

This is similar to what happened at Yalta when FDR, Churchill and Stalin decided on what should happen with China without China attending the meeting, when China was considered the greatest ally of the USA against Japan during WW2.

Yesterday The Friends of Syria met in Paris to decide how to...

Decide on what?

The USA, UK, France and Qatar attended the meeting in Geneva last weekend, at which they agreed to respect the national and territorial sovereignty of Syria. But what did they agree yesterday?
The Friends of Syria group promised to "massively increase" aid to Syria's rebels.

...Qatar's prime minister, Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim Al Thani, the leading Arab hawk on Syria, called for the security council to be sidestepped. "We are ready to take part in any effort of any kind to free the Syrian people of this tragedy they are in," he said at the Paris conference.

Saudi Arabia and Qatar are arming and financing the Free Syrian Army. The US says it is providing communications and "non-lethal" aid but, like Turkey, is thought to be helping co-ordinate weapons deliveries.

THE FRIENDS OF SYRIA DECIDED TO IGNORE THE NATIONAL AND TERRITORIAL SOVEREIGNTY OF SYRIA EVEN MORE!

So what has Annan to say about this? At the moment I can find no protest against this blatant violation of the Geneva text from Annan. However he is dragging Iran into the fray, and adding one more nation to the gang of nations taking decisions on the future of another nation. And this when the USA has been and still is getting ready to bomb Iran over a disputed nuclear program.

It is one thing, and I would assume perfectly legal, for the government of Syria to ask for help and invite assistance from other nations, for example Russia. But it is quite another for other nations to assume that they can finance, arm, train, give 'non-lethal' assistance to bandits, terrorists, thugs and murderers to destabilise and bring chaos to a nation, and then have the cheek to call for R2P.

Before making demands of the Syrian government it is necessary to stop all outside interference in Syria. Annan should demand that all external special forces, CIA, MI6, Mossad, DGSE etc. get the hell out of Syria, and demand the cessation of the flow of weapons and finance to the rebs. Only then can the situation in Syria be called truly Syrian (even if the rebs now have Swiss-made hand grenades from UAE).

Annan, wittingly or unwittingly, has done the job assigned to him; to allow time for the rebs to be given more and better weapons, and for further infiltration by al Qaeda into Syria, as the Iraq Foreign Minister confirmed yesterday.

As the source for The Daily Star said earlier this year;
"This is all going like Libya but this will be bigger and bloodier."
