Comparing deaths between specific years, or the 5-year average, is not proper because this year there has been a lockdown which probably reduced deaths significantly (but we don't know what the total would have been), while in for example 2018 there was no lockdown so any virus could transmit and evolve naturally.
Some deaths are recorded as attributed to Covid-19 when in reality the deceased had serious life-threatening health issues (eg heart disease) and Covid-19 just finished them off before their time. Should these deaths be attributed to Covid-19? Or should deaths where no underlying serious health issues were present but tests for Covid-19 return positive be the only deaths recorded as due to Covid-19?
The test for Covid-19 is not 100% accurate.
