When MUFC won the treble in 1999 they did so through hard graft and planning. Yes, they had bought a few players along the way, but the team was built around a core of 6 players who had been brought through from the youth team.
On the other hand Manchester City FC, aka Mercenary City FC, have bought the treble. Their main striker is on nearly £1 million a week. None of the team came through from their youth programme.
Last night Mercenary City FC killed football.
They proved that the club with all the money can buy what they want.
City fans may celebrate with sore heads today.
But they will shortly realise the significance of what their club has done: murdered football.
Today is a sad, sad day.
