To the sex-obsessed, war-crazed, dumbed-down muggins British taxpayer, such a tweet could easily be interpreted as meaning that Hassane was going to unleash a terrible war on mainland Britain involving summary beheadings in Trafalgar Square with the Islamic State flag fluttering from Nelson's Column. Particularly when Hassane is nicknamed "The Surgeon" by a corrupt British media who jump on Hassane's training in medicine.
But here is another explanation, one that fits with the statements from friends and family of the arrested suspects that they are nice boys who open doors for old grannies:
On Monday 6th October, Tarik Hassane sent a tweet “Oi lads…I smell war” to two friends, which was isolated and stripped of its surrounding context by the British media, and half-wittedly reported as a sign of admission that he was about to instigate a terror related incident in the UK.
Itching to break the story as quickly as possible and grounded by their unprofessional standards, they failed to mention that the tweet was sent to Tarik’s friends who were witnessing an argument between a number of females on Twitter. Not wanting himself or his friends to be involved in the dispute, Tarik sent the tweet to tell his friends that they should leave because a “war” i.e. a big spat was about to take place between the females.
But conveniently ignoring the real context of the tweet, in typical sensationalist fashion, the British media, including The Sun, Channel 4 News, Metro and The Independent, who have frequently exaggerated and even published false stories against the Muslim community in the UK, reported that Tarik was arrested because his tweet implied he was guilty of planning a “terror attack”, when there was no evidence to substantiate this claim.

There is even a hashtag #JusticeForTarik for a twitter campaign. The university he attends in Sudan has released a statement on Hassane which states the following:
1) Hassane did not have his passport until 30th September, which was returned to him so he could celebrate while the University was closed for Eid;
2) Hassane "is polite, peaceful, well-respected, a devout muslim and shares no inclination to violence. He, according to his colleagues deplores violence and is critical about terrorism."

Every day the case against the four arrested collapses in on itself, like a black hole.
But this black hole of a politically motivated arrest will lead to something very, very black indeed.
Because these arrests were made to divert public attention from the explosive allegations of Moazzam Begg, who the day before the arrests claimed that in December 2013 he was approached by the friends and family of Alan Henning to negotiate Alan's release and that he contacted Alistair Burt to discuss this proposal but it was rejected by the FCO.
But there is a lot more to Begg's story:
1. Begg went to Syria and visited training camps, but before going told MI5 what he would be doing in Syria who gave their blessing;
2. but upon his return Begg was arrested for attending training camps in Syria!!;
3. Begg was held in custody awaiting trial, thus depriving him of being able to travel to Syria to negotiate the release of British hostages;
4. during that time Islamic State began to behead British and American hostages;
5. the families of the American hostages were threatened with prosecution if they tried to pay a ransom for their sons release, while Cameron stated that Britain would not pay any ransom because it finances terrorism, which is a complete load of bollocks of an excuse because
(a) MI5 have had a Covenant of Security with Islamic terrorists for decades allowing them to operate out of and openly recruit in London;
(b) our allies Saudi Arabia and Qatar have been financing the terrorists in Syria, and agreed a policy with Israel and the USA that they would unleash cutthroat Jihadis onto Syria, Lebanon and Iran.
6. But as soon as Alan Haines loses has his head sawn off Callous Cameron cites Haines as a casus belli.
We have to ask:
1. why Begg was unnecessarily detained in custody for months and not allowed to negotiate the release of any British hostage;
2. why Cameron used a ridiculous argument for not paying any ransom for a British hostage, when other G8 nations have paid ransoms while the USA threatens to prosecute the family of any hostage looking to pay a ransom;
3. but the governments of the UK and USA use the beheadings of their citizens as a casus belli.
I maintain that the war in Syria is over a $10 billion pipeline to transport Qatari natural gas through Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Syria to Turkey and on to Europe. But Assad wanted to route gas from the Pars field from Iran and through Iraq, and then through Syria, while protecting his ally Russia. The Qatar proposal is designed to ween Europe from dependency on Russia for energy (which the crisis in Ukraine is also designed to do), which is why the UK and USA are supporting illegally ousting Assad, even going so far as to allow preachers like Michael Adebalajo to preach Jihad on the streets of London before beheading British soldiers!
This is not what my grandfathers landed on the beaches of Normandy to chase the Nazis out of Northern France in June 1944 for.
This is the Disunited Fascist Queendom today.
C'est magnifique, innit?
