France denies paying a ransom for Henin, but read this:
Focus, citing Nato sources in Brussels, claimed that Defence Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian personally took the money to Ankara during the week before the hostages were freed and that it was passed on to the kidnappers by the Turkish secret services.
[source : France denies paying ransom to Syrian Islamists for freed journalists, RFI, http://www.english.rfi.fr/france/20140427-france-denies-paying-ransom-syrian-islamists-freed-journalists, 27th April 2014]
Now why would Islamic State release four French hostages?
Eh?
Why?
Why would Islamic State release four French hostages but behead Foley, Sotloff, Haines and Henning? When IS has released hostages from other nations who paid ransoms?
Eh?
If you didn't order the FCO to reject Moazzam Begg's proposal to negotiate Henning's release (an action that was actually initiated by Henning's family and friends), and then later detain Begg in custody awaiting trial on trumped up charges (thus denying Begg the freedom to return to Syria to negotiate the freedom of Henning and Haines), then find out who did!!
Because without these two actions you would not have had the chance to use the beheading of David Haines as a casus belli.
