The USA is claiming credit for the death of Islamic State's Oil Minister, a Mr Abu Sayyaf.
But apparently the USA didn't tell Syria what the plan was, so the USA just invaded Syrian airspace and took him out.
You see, the USA can invade anyone's airspace. I'd be very surprised if Roland Oliphant wrote an article about this blatant incursion by the USA into Syrian airspace.
But this is the purpose, or one of the purposes, of Islamic State. The USA can now invade Syrian airspace, and nobody cares about international law. Before 2014 this would have been impossible.
Other purposes of Islamic State are:
1. to introduce oppressive surveillance legislation to protect us from returning Jihadis;
2. to clampdown on free speech.
