Well, the last time he said he was smart was during the televised debates with Clinton when he said he was smart for not paying any taxes.
But it turned out that the reason he was not paying any taxes was because he was using a law specially created for the likes of him that allowed him to claim taxes against any losses. In the mid-1990s Trump made a near $1 billion loss which his accountant suggested he use to avoid paying taxes. And so for the nex 18 years multi-billionaire Trump did not pay any tax while the average American paid theirs, nearly $60 billion of which went to Trump's beloved Israel.
