Henry VIII did not join assault on Venice. He was neutral.
However, he did join with Venice after Venice had survived.
The League of Cambrai was called for by the Pope to destroy Venice and its evils. A major member of this league against Venice was France.
At the Battle of Agnadello the League routed Venetian mercenaries, and Venice prepared to be destroyed.
But Venice managed to bribe the Pope to change his mind. The Pope decided to instead call for the expulsion of French troops.
Henry VIII then joined Venice to defeat France.
This intrigued Venice who sent their top agent Francesco Zorzi to England. It was Zorzi who advised Henry to break with the Vatican so he could marry Ann Boleyn.
The Vatican had shown to Venice that it could not be trusted, by first calling for The League of Cambrai to destroy Venice, but then accepting a bribe to side with Venice.
It was this League that convinced Venice that it was time to move on. Venice moved to England, setting Europe on fire with the reformation v counter-reformation to mask their movement north to England.
David Icke claims Venice decided to move to England only for ley lines.
But there is so much more history to this.
For example, did the Pope initially call for The League of Cambrai with the full intention of betraying the League for personal financial gain?
