After graduating in 1968 from the University of Pennsylvania, a rich young man from the outer boroughs of New York City sought his fortune on the island of Manhattan. Within a few years Donald J. Trump had made friends with the city’s most notorious fixer, lawyer Roy Cohn, who had become famous as lead counsel to Senator Joseph McCarthy. Among other things Cohn was now a mob consigliere, with clients including “Fat Tony” Salerno, boss of the Genovese crime family, the most powerful Mafia group in New York, and Paul Castellano, head of what was said to be the second largest family, the Gambinos.

So what evidence is there that the Gambinos were allegedly the second largest crime family in New York?

Among the notable underworld figures in attendance were Santo Trafficante from Tampa, Joseph Civello from Dallas, and Carlo Gambino from New York. The Apalachin meeting provided the reasonable evidence for the existence and scope of a nationwide connected syndicate.
"Never before had there been such a concentration of jailbirds, murderers free on technicalities, and big hweels in gambling and dope rackets," remarked a prosecutor who investigated the case.

And here is Trump's (known) connection to Gambino:
In 1983, according to Trump: The Deals and the Downfall, Trump met with Cohn client Anthony “Fat Tony” Salerno, the boss of the Genovese crime family, in Cohn’s New York apartment. Trump had employed S&A Concrete, owned by Salerno and Paul “Big Paul” Castellano, head of the Gambino crime family, to build Trump Tower.

I know that just because Trump strangely used mob-supplied concrete for Trump Tower, instead of steel girders, does not mean that he knows everything about the Gambino family or their employees.
But this is yet another example of just how close Trump is the CIA/mob network.
