The USA had taken over as the dominant economic superpower. Russia and Germany, and to some extent France, were working with the USA in opposition to the British Empire. So King Edward VII organised a series of treaties to encircle Germany in war, Freemasonry generated the spark for war by assassinating the peaceful Archduke Ferdinand, and King George V kicked the war off by tricking Germany into invading Belgium. After the war the British tried to establish their world government in the The League of Nations, but failed.
This failure led to WW2 in which the UK, the USA and Russia fought against...Germany! Same plot as WW1. And this time it worked. The United Nations is a de facto world government.
