In the FT yesterday Medvedev was portrayed as the saviour of Russia, a moderniser, while Putin was compared to a simpleton caveman keeping Russian business Russian and dependent on exports of fossil fuel[1]. Of course, modernisation means privatisation and selling off state assets to foreign businesses. Hence the support of the City of
Medvedev now has the confidence to implicitly warn Putin of a civil war(!) if too much power is concentrated in one man's hands[2].
But what Medvedev does not seem to understand is that by selling off state assets to foregn businesses, particularly those with links to the City of
