MOTTO OF THE DAY

Never trust a teacher, not even a female teacher.

The male is made out to be the caveman, the predator, with base lusts and instincts, bashing a woman on the head with a club and then dragging her off by her hair to his cave, muttering "ugga bugga" to himself.

But check this out.

Two Californian teachers have been arrested after allegedly being caught have sex with their students while away on an unsanctioned field trip, police said.

South Hills High School teacher Melody Lippert, 38, met up with a group of male students at a beach in San Clemente in December of last year.

Cops say she gave the group alcohol and then engaged in a sexual act with one of the students, according to deputies.

Afterwards, she allegedly made plans to meet up with the students a second time at the same spot, bringing along another teacher 30-year-old Michelle Ghirelli.

This is just another sordid tale to add to the very worrying trend of teachers abusing their position of trust. It was usually male teachers exploiting boys, but now women are catching up pretty fast.

Is this a symptom of women's liberation?

Is this a reason to ditch public schooling in favour of home schooling?

Or can we even trust private tutors to teach children in their own homes?

All I'll say is this: no teacher taught me what I know about how this world really works, and when I tried to tell one who I expected would be desperate to help I was and still am ostracised.

So you do the maths.
